Secretary Alex Azar served as the 24th Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (2018-2021), leading over 85,000 employees with a budget of over $1.4 trillion. He was the architect of Operation Warp Speed, delivering COVID-19 vaccines and therapeutics in record time. He led the historic transformation of the healthcare system in the United States and HHS’s response to the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic.

He will address case studies of recent seminal deals including Aetna on its sale to CVS, Humana on the acquisitions of Kindred and Curo, UPMC on ViaOncology and Evolent, and Thermo Fisher on numerous acquisitions and divestitures including Life Technologies.

Join us for Tuck Rounds with Emmy Rubin to learn about clinical ethics in the context of COVID-19. Dr. Rubin is a pulmonary critical care physician and co-chair of the ethics committee at Massachusetts General Hospital. She has been on the front lines both treating patients in the ICU and planning the hospitals response to the crisis. She will share her perspectives on ethical issues in the pandemic, including developing crisis standards of care, allocating scarce resources (Remdesivir, monoclonal antibodies, etc), and other issues facing clinicians, patients and the health care system.
